It's ALL About Cheap

Cody and I don't have TONS of money. True we just bought an awesome new printer and I do have two lenses, an external flash, some cheap filters, a remote trigger and a tri pod. HOWEVER, we have slowly bought all this over the past 4 years. Photography equipment is expensive. I think a lot of it is unnecessary unless you have the money to spend. I have already mentioned IHEARTFACES several times lately, but I love this iste because it gives great advice for photographers of all sorts. I just watched a video they had linked to a post about lighting and I LOVED it! I am SO going to do this and see how my pictures come out. I kind of do this now any ways but I have never understood how to get good lighting in my house because it is REALLY dark in here! Seriously, my house is the worse for taking pictures. If you are at all interested in photography and can't afford buying the equipment ( like most just starting out in the business ) then take a look at the article and watch the video. Here You won't be disappointed!

Snow

LOTS of pictures of the snow we had the other day. Enjoy

Hands On

A week or two ago I did a post for IHEARTFACES. Today I wanted to do another one. Some times I read the weekly challenge and have a picture in mind like last time with the kissing picture. This week I started thinking of a bunch of pictures and then couldn't decide. So this week i decided to just do the first one that popped into my mind even though I may have some that are better. Here is Cody and Kayla together. Kayla loves playing with Cody's facial hair and i get a kick out of it every time she does it. It just looks so sweet!

We Heart Kisses

I have blogged about I HEART FACES before. This week their picture theme is "We heart kisses" since Valentine's day is right around the corner. My husband is coming home JUST in time. Woo hoo. I still haven't been able to make the dead line and ACTUALLY enter a picture into their contest SO I thought this would be the perfect time to start, especially since I have a photo that was perfect! If you know me and follow my other personal blog, you have seen this picture before.

This picture is special to me for many reasons. This picture happened by chance. I am actually doing the kissing AND taking the pictures. That's why I love it so much. My husband had been in Kuwait for 4 months and we hadn't even been married a year yet! We didn't have a real honeymoon so when he got back from out of the country we decided to go to Hawaii. It was wonderful! We were strolling along and I wanted to take a picture of us kissing. I held up the camera and snapped and picture and this is what I got! First try even. I LOVE it! The only thing I did to change anything was make it black and white. I love my husband so much and I can't imagine life without him. So go check out the I heart faces blog and enter your own "We heart kisses" picture and maybe you'll be a winner!

DIY Photography Tips

I don't have money to spend on really cool photography stuff. We are getting a new printer with some of our tax return money and that is something we have been planning ( and excited for ) for like 3 or 4 months now! So when you look around at all of the cool stuff they have for your cameras to improve and/or enhance your photos, you want ALL of it! And it cost SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much money. Way too much for me who doesn't take pictures for money yet. So for now I am stuck trying to make my own stuff. I found a web site called diyphotography.net Check it out for lots of cool tips. Here is just one I thought I would share for now.
GO HERE and check out this person way to never lose your lens cap. very creative and can be custom done to your liking! Awesome.

I have been looking into bokeh and reading a lot of DIY tips about it and making your own lens to do this. I am going to try and bunch of stuff over the next week or so and hopefully write a blog about this. It's so fun to just try things out and if even just ONE of them works then it's worth it. Also does anyone use regular old film any more???? I found like 5 or 6 rolls of film and we don't even have a camera that works any more that takes it. I think one of the rolls is even black and white which is my FAVORITE. Does someone want to pay me for shipping and I'll send it to you for free! Just let me know cause it is just sitting here and I hate to see good film go to waste.

Cedar Breaks

When I was staying in Utah while my husband was overseas, I got the opportunity to go to Cedar Breaks while the leaves were changing. I got to take so many pictures and had a wonderful time doing so. I have posted these on my personal blog but I thought I would post some here on my photography blog. ENJOY
